8Trees Inc. Responds to the Covid-19 Pandemic

The Covid-19 pandemic has shaken the world these past three months, and fortunately for Canada, we can find leadership and support in our government, health care workers, grocery stores, suppliers, and in our communities. Our government has given the best scientific advice to Canadians on ways to prevent the spread of this virus. That advice is to maintain social distancing by staying home as much as possible, frequently wash your hands, avoid large gatherings of people, and remain home for 14 days if you have recently travelled or are ill in any way. We must do this to protect ourselves and the vulnerable people in our communities.

In response to Covid-19, 8Trees Inc. maintains social distancing among our team members, but we continue to communicate and work remotely from home. We have cancelled all upcoming public outreach events, and all group volunteer work has been postponed. We are looking into alternate forms of outreach using various social media platforms. Some of our work involves research with animals and is deemed essential by the province. Therefore, we will continue with our animal care-related activities but will limit the number of interacting team members to two, and they must not be showing any signs of illness. Our newest project involves Citizen Science and “My Field App“. With the app, public users can collect wildlife observations independently and upload information to the cloud. Since this project follows social distancing rules it can move forward at this time. All other questions and communications from the public can be completed via e-mail, phone or teleconference. 8Trees will continue our social distancing protocols until further notice.
